What happens when nobody picks up
Unanswered calls, busy lines and voicemail: what they cost (nothing) and what to try next.
Sometimes nobody answers. The restaurant’s closed, the kitchen’s slammed, or the phone is ringing in a back room nobody can hear.
What it costs
Nothing. No answer, a busy line or voicemail doesn’t cost you a credit, and any credits held for the call come back.
What you see
The app tells you what happened. We’ll never dress up an unanswered call as a booking, or say a message got through when it didn’t. “Nobody answered” is a perfectly good result. It just means you need a plan B.
What to try next
- Check the opening hours, and whether today is their day off.
- Try between lunch and dinner. Busy places pick up more often when they’re not mid-service.
- Look for a second number, or an online booking page.
- Have a backup place in mind. Sometimes the answer is just “not tonight”.
When you call again, check the details first. If the time has moved on, update the request before you tap Call now.
