Closer to home

The call you keep putting off.

There is a note on your phone: call the plumber. It has been there since Monday. You speak the language. You know the number. You just keep finding something else that needs doing first.

Small jobs still take attention

Making the call is only part of the job. You need to remember the details, find a quiet minute, ask the right question and keep track of the answer. Those little interruptions add up.

Alfred can take on a clearly defined call without needing a language barrier to justify it. Checking an ordinary repair appointment, asking whether a collection is ready, or confirming a shop’s closing time are all examples of the kind of question you can brief.

Hand over the question and the boundaries

Start with the result you want. Then add the details the person on the other end will need. For a routine plumbing enquiry, that might be the issue, your area and the times you are available.

Keep the first call narrow if you are still deciding. Asking about a visit and its fee does not have to authorise a booking or any work. You can make that decision after reading the answer.

Check the details that affect your day

Before the call, review the recipient, the language and the maximum credit estimate. If they may need to contact you, choose whether to share your profile phone number and account email.

Afterwards, read the summary for the proposed time, the fee and any question that came back. Open the conversation if a detail needs checking. If a figure is only an estimate, treat it as an estimate until the business confirms it.

Your saved summary and transcript stay in your account until you delete them. You can remove one finished record or clear finished calls from history; billing records are kept separately.

Some calls deserve your full attention

A routine enquiry is a useful thing to delegate. An urgent situation, a sensitive personal conversation or a decision that keeps changing may need you directly. Alfred is not an emergency service.

For the ordinary calls, though, the aim is simple: get a clear answer, know what happens next, and stop carrying that little unfinished job around in your head.

The brief above is an illustrative example. Alfred is in early access, with calling availability checked before approval.
